Public database-based analysis of ALDH18A1 expression characteristics and clinicopathological stage association in non-small cell lung cancer

Abstract:
Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains a leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide, necessitating the identification of novel biomarkers for early diagnosis and targeted therapy. This study aims to validate the expression levels of ALDH18A1 and investigate its association with clinical stages in NSCLC using extensive public databases and advanced online analytical platforms, providing a robust theoretical basis for subsequent tissue-based validation and in vitro functional experiments. Comprehensive expression data from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and the Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx) databases were systematically integrated and analyzed utilizing the GEPIA web-based platform. An initial pan-cancer expression profiling of ALDH18A1 was performed, followed by a focused validation of its specific expression patterns within NSCLC tissues. The pan-cancer analysis revealed that ALDH18A1 was broadly and significantly overexpressed across multiple tumor types, notably including lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) and lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC).
