Abstract:
Introduction: Music provokes positive responses in older adults, outlining its therapeutic benefits. The three fundamental aspects worked on are the physical, expressive, and receptive. Objective: Describe the influence of music on older adults at the Ana Betancourt Grandparents Circle in the 10th of October municipality. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on the influence of music on the Ana Betancourt Grandparents Circle, involving 32 older adults from January to July 2022. Variables such as sex, age, occupation, education level, duration in the grandparents circle, effects of music on older adults, memory, orientation, body movement, social and family interaction improvement were operationalized. A pre-validated survey was used to collect information, summarized in absolute and relative frequencies. Data was processed using IBM SPSS 25.0 and Microsoft Excel 2016, adhering to scientific research ethics. Results: Favorable results were obtained regarding the influence of music on older adults. 90.6% remembered previous social roles when listening to music. 100% demonstrated spatial and personal awareness through music. 87.5% of older adults experienced improved physical mobility.
