Bariatric Surgery and Pregnancy: Impact on Maternal and Fetal Health

Abstract: To contrast the prenatal results of female patients prior to and following weight-loss surgery giving birth. Methods: a review of the literature was conducted at a hospital to examine the prenatal results of women who gave birth before and after having weight loss procedure. To account for confounders, a model with multiple logistic regression variables was created. Findings: 301 deliveries occurred before and 507 occurred after weight loss surgery across the research period. Following the procedure, there was a notable decrease in the incidence of fetal obesity , hypertensive diseases , and metabolic syndrome . The results indicated that there was an independent link between bariatric surgery and a decrease in the incidence of hypertension , diabetes mellitus , and macros- . Bariatric surgery before pregnancy can enhance maternal health, though it must be carefully monitored to avoid nutritional deficits. Optimal prenatal care is critical for both fetal growth and maternal health.
