Abstract:
The university professor is a fundamental subject that acts for the achievement of the mission of the university from the functions of Teaching, Research and Extension, therefore, he must be a leader with great capacity to reinvent himself every day and face the challenges of the daily educational work. Hence, this research article is developed with the purpose of showing the elements that ontologically resignify the notion of university teacher. It is stated that the research methodology followed was based on the precepts of the interpretivist paradigm, guided by the Theory of Phenomenology and the method of Hermeneutic Understanding of Martin Heidegger. Similarly, the deployment of qualitative methodologies was assumed, through the use of the phenomenological interview and the script of open questions aimed at capturing the experiential. As for the subjects of the research, 4 teachers of the Universidad Nacional Experimental Francisco de Miranda (UNEFM), selected by means of the qualitative technique of intentional sampling as key informants, participated in the study. The treatment of the data collected was based on the logic of the phenomenological processes of reduction, comprehension and destruction (reinterpretation). Finally, the results show the unveiling of six themes as emerging categories and two macro categories or structural themes, with which the notion of the university teacher can be redefined to the extent that he/she becomes a transformational leader in permanent training, since it is from this perspective that he/she can be a subject that generates change and transformations
