Hybrid teaching: a departmental teaching innovation participating in university digital transformation

Abstract:
Introduction: the use of digital technology is recognized as a strategy in university educative polices. The objective of this paper is to analyze the innovative sense of the hybrid teaching use by the Basic Biomedical Science Department, in Salvador Allende Medicine Faculty. Methods: it was developed a descriptive and qualitative investigation, using the case study method. There were used theoretical methods: analysis-synthesis, induction-deduction, historic logic and moving up from the abstract to concrete, and empirical methods: document review and focal group. Results: it was determined criteria that admit the consideration of the hybrid teaching, by the scholar use of virtual classroom, as teaching departmental innovation. Conclusions: the introduction of hybrid teaching by the basic Biomedical Science Department, in Salvador Allende Medicine Faculty is a teaching innovation that participate in the digital transformation of medical education
