Abstract: Introduction: Information management is crucial for decision-making in a dynamic environment. Information systems are essential for storing, processing, and distributing data, becoming a critical economic resource. In this context, intelligent information systems, which incorporate artificial intelligence, offer advanced solutions for data analysis and management in the healthcare sector. Objective: To explain the importance of intelligent information systems in healthcare based on the development of emerging technologies. Method: A comprehensive literature review on intelligent information systems was conducted using databases such as Scopus, SciELO, and Google Scholar. Fifteen relevant sources were selected, including scientific articles and books published between 2020 and 2024. Development: Intelligent information systems not only collect data but also use advanced technologies such as machine learning to enhance decision-making. In healthcare, they enable in-depth analysis of medical data, identifying patterns that impact diagnosis and treatment. Telemedicine has emerged as a key application that facilitates access to healthcare in underserved areas. Conclusions: The integration of intelligent information systems in healthcare transforms medical data management. However, implementation faces challenges such as staff training and data protection. Addressing these challenges is essential to maximize benefits and ensure more efficient and personalized healthcare.
