The “One Health” approach through the Defense Preparedness discipline program

Abstract: Introduction: The “One Health” approach contributes to meeting the demands of the future, performance of Medicine graduates and their responsibilities and concrete actions in relation to the defense and reduction of disaster risks and maintenance of health. Objective: design a strategy for the implementation of the “One Health” approach in the program of the Defense Preparation discipline, of the Medicine career, at the University of Medical Sciences of Pinar del Río. Methods: a bibliographic review was carried out on the “One Health” approach and the program of the Preparation for Defense discipline of the Medicine career, necessary for the design of the strategy. Results: the proposed strategy was conceived and designed based on the participation of the main actors: students and professors of the Medicine career, it has four specific strategic actions, operations and indicators and forms of evaluation that will allow it to achieve its objective. Conclusions: a strategy was designed for the implementation of the “One Health” approach in the Defense Preparation discipline program of the Medicine degree, which was evaluated by experts and specialists who corroborated the scientific validity of the proposal.
