Abstract: Introduction: Identifying the genetic preconceptional risk in the context of community genetics will allow developing protective interventions and minimizing genetic risks in all their aspects. to design an educational strategy aimed at the prevention and follow-up of genetic preconceptional risk in the municipality of Consolación del Sur, during the year 2022. Method: an observational, descriptive, cross-sectional research was carried out, the universe coincides with the sample of 831 women evaluated in the municipal consultation of genetic preconceptional risk. Theoretical, empirical and descriptive statistical methods were used, given in absolute and relative numbers. 31.41% of the women were evaluated with increased genetic preconceptional risk, 51.19% were due to congenital defects followed by chromosomopathies and hereditary conditions in 15.23%. Based on the diagnosis obtained, a strategy with a community approach is proposed to reduce the risk. The evaluation of preconceptional risk before pregnancy is a challenge of prenatal care, allowing the development of intervention strategies through preventive educational actions aimed at the management and reduction of the main risks.
