Abstract:
In Lima, Peru, during 2022, uterine myomatosis stood out as a significant challenge in the gynecological health of women of childbearing age. This condition, characterized by the development of benign tumors in the uterine muscle, showed a high prevalence in women over 40 years old. National studies revealed it accounted for up to 20% of benign tumors in this population and significantly affected quality of life, causing symptoms such as abnormal uterine bleeding, anemia, pelvic pain, and infertility. Peru's health system implemented hormonal and surgical treatments, with myomectomy and hysterectomy as primary options in advanced cases. Nursing staff played a crucial role, providing comprehensive care during the postoperative period, managing pain, and educating patients on self-care. The Nursing Care Process (NCP) was used to structure personalized and holistic care. Despite progress, barriers such as unequal access to services and late detection persisted. The importance of preventive strategies, multidisciplinary teams, and public policies ensuring equitable management of this condition was highlighted.
