Risk factors, causes and consequences of work stress, in relation to a bibliographic review

Abstract: Introduction: work stress is defined as the tension produced when an individual considers a work situation or demand to be beyond his or her capabilities and resources to deal with it. to argue the importance of studying the causes and consequences of work stress based on its conceptualization. a narrative bibliographic review was carried out with the literature found on work stress. For this purpose, databases such as SciELO, Scopus and the Google Scholar search engine were used. Theses located in university repositories and books were also taken into account. The cited research was selected based on a detailed analysis of its impact, scientific validity demonstrated by quantitative studies, published in Spanish and English. Development: the discussion around the personal conditioning factors on workers' emotions in the face of organizational changes and work responsibilities reveals significant findings. Studies indicate that knowledge of the external locus of control and other personal factors exert a considerable influence on how employees react to the dynamics and demands of the work environment. Specifically, it is observed that a considerable proportion of workers experience stress in the face of organizational changes, this perception of stress extends to the responsibility of being accountable for the company's actions, as well as the anxiety generated by unclear objectives, with similar percentages of workers expressing concerns in these areas. promoting opportunities for professional development and growth within the workplace may be one of the many strategies to implement to avoid psychological exhaustion of workers
