Abstract: In the year 2022, in the city of Machachi, parish of Aloasí, the implementation of occupational risk management and prevention workshops was carried out in the project ‘Construction of the Redesign and Updating of the Puichig Drinking Water System Pumping Line’. The initial diagnosis showed that the 21 workers were unaware of basic safety regulations, did not use personal protective equipment (PPE) and were exposed to mechanical, physical and electrical risks, increasing the possibility of occupational accidents. To address this issue, practical and participatory workshops were developed using methodologies such as ‘learning by doing’ and the ‘Flipped Classroom’. During the training, workers practised the proper use of PPE, participated in emergency simulations, learned work space organisation techniques and received lectures on safe handling of machinery and tools. In addition, group dynamics were promoted to improve communication, reduce stress and encourage self-care. The trainer played a key role in identifying deficiencies, correcting unsafe practices and guiding workers' reflection. For their part, the participants took an active role in identifying risks and proposing solutions. As a result, awareness of occupational safety, proper use of PPE and improved order and cleanliness were achieved. The project optimised working conditions and fostered an organisational culture based on prevention, ensuring safety and productivity at the site, and establishing a benchmark in occupational safety in the Machachi region.
