Abstract: Ushbu maqolada oʻrta asr mahalliy yozma manbalardagi etnik nomlar oʻrganilgan va ularni oʻzbek xalqining etnik tarixini oʻrganishdagi ahamiyatini koʻrsatib berilgan. Muallif unda xalqimiz tarixining turli davrlariga xos etnonimlar etimologiyasini, tahlil qilgan. Shuningdek, maqolada muallif Oʻzbekiston hududidagi juda koʻp joy nomlari u yoki bu urugʻ-qabilani nomi asosida paydo boʻlganligi koʻrsatilgan, ular xalqimiz va boshqa qardosh xalqlar tarixini oʻrganishda muhim manba boʻlib xizmat qilishini taʼkidlaydi.
