EQUALITY - A UNIVERSAL PRINCIPLE OF THE CONTEMPORARY WORLD

Roxana Mihaela Moișoiu

FIAT IUSTITIA, 2019, vol. 13, issue 2, 75-82

Abstract: The right to equality is both a universal right and a fundamental principle of Community law. Ever since the beginning of modern society, equality has been an ideal condition of many actors. Thus, political decisions, political projects, institutional construction and political will have influenced the evolution of society and tried to build, respect and apply equality. Equality is convergent with respect for human rights. Democratic society can and must ensure the favourable context for the respect of equality and human rights, because the only way of rigorous expression of equality is democracy. Equality is inextricably linked to the legitimacy of power.
