Abstract: Situados en la constitución del Banco de San Carlos, en el presente trabajo se analizan los informes que se elaboraron en 1783 para dotar al establecimiento, acordes con el diseño organizativo previsto en su norma fundacional, de la infraestructura necesaria para cubrir los aspectos contables que abarcan, desde los libros de cuentas, hasta el sistema a seguir por partida doble o simple, o el perfil, sueldo y personas que llevarían la contabilidad. Finalmente, sería el órgano colegiado de la Junta de Dirección el que decidiría tales aspectos, pero supeditando a la Junta General de Accionistas, al término de ese primer ejercicio, la resolución o confirmación de algunas cuestiones. (At the beginning of the Bank of Saint Charles, in the previous period to start the operations with the customers, there were two reports to study several alternatives: total number and subject of the accounting books, method of accounting -doble entry or single entry- and profile of the employees that the institution needs before opening the doors at the clientele. These reports are the main subject in this paper and we analyse the most important consequence in his further development during the initial year of the Bank. In 1783, at the end of the first year of activity, the Bank in the Stockholders’ Meeting, resolve some questions which were not concluded by the eight managers that integrated the Board of Directors).
