Abstract: ABSTRACT. The aim of the study is to identify the philosophical and historical basis of the "War and Peace" novel and associated with the aspect A. S. Pushkin’s works. Methods. Comparative historical, cultural and typological. Results. The authors of the article analyze the origins of Pushkin's sources in "War and Peace" by L. N. Tolstoy, which can be understood with realizing what place Pushkin took in Tolstoy’s creative quest in 1850. Conclusions. From the previous analysis, it is established that many studies deal with the problems of Pushkin's basis in the works of writers, however lately its undevelopedness is perceived much, especially within the context of Pushkin's traditions in L.
