CROW IN THE KALMYK FOLKLORE: SUPERSTITIONS, SPELLS, FAIRY TALES

Abstract:
The aim of the article is studying the crow’s image, a revered bird among Kalmyks. The author attempts to study the folklore, where the crow’s image is traced.Methods: description, analysis, generalization of the studied material.Conclusion. The crow’s image is characteristic for the genres of Kalmyk folklore: spells, fairy tales, teasers. In Kalmyks’ fairy tales and spells it is only a black-coloured crow, making a loud frightening sound, a long-lived crow. In tales of animals a crow is anassistant of humans, other animals and birds.Â
