Le foisonnement d’outils de gestion:d’un portefeuille d’outils à une «technologie en pratique»

Abstract: (VF)L’objet de cet article est d’éclairer le foisonnement d’outils de gestion dans les organisations : d’où vient-il ? Comment s’organise-t-il ? Quels sont les modes possibles d’imbrication des outils de gestion ? Une recherche qualitative par étude de cas autour de l’adoption de plusieurs outils permet de montrer que ce foisonnement s’organise en un portefeuille dynamique et structuré d’outils de gestion, soit déjà présents dans l’organisation, soit émergents au cours de ce processus. Sont ainsi mis en évidence des outils substituts, des outils de renforcement (supports ou supportés) et des outils complémentaires.(VA)This paper aims at a better understanding of the proliferation of management tools within organizations. What is the origin of such proliferation? How can it be organized? Are management tools interrelated? Qualitative research of a case featuring the adoption of multiple management tools shows that their proliferation may seem to be disordered at first sight. A closer look, however, reveals that tools are organized as a dynamic and structured portfolio of multiple management tools, where new management tools emerge alongside already existing ones. We are finally able to categorize management tools into substitute tools, reinforcing tools and complementary tools.
