UNA COMPARATIVA DE FACTORES DE CRECIMIENTO EN AMÉRICA LATINA A TRAVÉS DEL ANÁLISIS CLUSTER

Abstract: La mayoría de análisis y políticas económicas en el área de América Latina se centran en enfoques macroeconómicos de naturaleza coyuntural. Frente a este enfoque de corto plazo, la literatura sobre crecimiento destaca el papel que la inversión en capital físico, la inversión en capital humano, el desarrollo de innovación y la seguridad jurídica juegan en la actividad económica. El presente trabajo adopta una perspectiva estructural a la hora de valorar los resultados económicos de los países de la región. Para ello, realiza un análisis cluster que clasifica a diecisiete economías del área en función de sus dotaciones factoriales y pone de manifiesto las importantes diferencias que existen entre ellas en capacidad de crecimiento.

Most of the analysis and economic policies in the Latin America area focus in short term macroeconomic approaches. However, economic growth literature emphasizes the role that fixed gross capital formation, investment in human capital, research and development and the rule of law play in economic activity. This paper follows a structural long term perspective in order to evaluate the economic achievements of the countries in the region. So, it uses a cluster analysis that classifies seventeen economics according to their factorial endowments and shows the important differences among them according to their growth efficiency.
