CLUBES DE CONVERGENCIA EN EL CONSUMO DE ENERGÍA ELÉCTRICA PER CÁPITA EN MÉXICO A NIVEL DE ENTIDADES FEDERATIVAS

Abstract: En el artículo se examina la convergencia en el consumo de energía eléctrica per cápita a nivel de entidades federativas en México durante el período 2002-2020 a través del enfoque de convergencia de clubes de Phillips-Sul (2007, 2009). Encontramos evidencia de múltiples clubes de convergencia para el consumo de energía eléctrica per cápita. Los resultados ponen de relieve la necesidad de diseñar políticas diferenciadas para reducir el consumo de energía de las entidades. El reconocimiento de las diferencias en los patrones de convergencia entre las entidades es importante para el diseño y la aplicación de políticas para reducir el consumo de energía.

The article examines the convergence in electricity consumption per capita at the level of states in Mexico during the period 2002-2020 through the convergence approach of Phillips-Sul clubs (2007, 2009). We find evidence of multiple convergence clubs for electricity consumption per capita. The results highlight the need to design differentiated policies to reduce the energy consumption of entities. Recognition of differences in convergence patterns between entities is important for the design and implementation of policies to reduce energy consumption.
