Gasto Turistico Exterior de los Residentes en la UE y Paises De La OCDE

Abstract: Este articulo presenta un analisis del gasto turisticos de los consumidores europeos y de la OCDE. En terminos globales USA es el pais que recibe un mayor gasto turistico de los otros paises de la OCDE, con casi un tercio del total, pero en terminos per capita el pais con mayor nivel es Austria. Se analizan las diferencias en la estructura del consumo de los residentes y no residentes y se presenta un modelo econometrico con datos de panel para modelizar el gasto no residente, indicandose los problemas que surgen en esta estimacion. Se insiste en la necesidad de mejorar la informacion estadistica respecto a la estructura del gasto no residente, lo cual es importante dado el elevado peso relativo que esta variable alcanza ya en varios paises.

This article presents an analyses of the expenditure on external tourism of EU and OECD countries. The USA is the country which receives the highest income from non-resident tourism of OECD countries, with almost one third of total, but in terms per inhabitant, Austria is the country with the highest level. The differences in the structure of consumption of residents and non-residents is analysed, and an econometric model for non-resident consumption expenditure is presented. The conclusions insist upon the need to improve the statistical information regarding the structure of non-resident consumption in the territory, which is important given the high share on private consumption that this variable has reached in several countries.
