Abstract: This study aims to search approach of the designer while designing the outer visible characteristics of the shopping malls, which changed our shopping habits and represent new type of structure, and perception of such approach by the user on the basis of a sample structure. The province and the building are considered together while selecting the building analyzed within the scope of this study. Accordingly, it was decided to apply the study in Sivas province due to its strong historical background, existence of unique and new structures together, its user profiles getting used to do shopping within inns that are fed via the street in cultural and climatic senses and availability of the first and single shopping mall in the city. Statistical analysis was held through participation of the user and designer to understand the perception towards the façade of the sample shopping mall. Results of the analysis showed that the user failed to perceive the objective of the designer?s decisions.
