Abstract:
With the process of bringing Turkish Folk Dances to the stage, compulsory interventions to the natural structure compiled from the source started and some changes were made on the original structures of the dances. The traditional structure was mixed with different dance forms and their natural genetic structures were changed and presented under the name of choreographic studies. Art and stage anxiety brought rhythmic, melodic or figurative changes in the dances that were carried from the natural environment of the rules. Changes made through Turkish Folk Dances generally appear in the form of designs made through music and figure structures. During the staging process, noticing structures in which the movements did not fully coincide with the musical structure revealed the existence of incompatible (irregular) and harmonious (regular) figure structures. Thoughts such as performing the dance in a limited time and uniform performance of the figures have led to a tendency towards uniformity in dances. In addition, as music began to become uniform, music identified with dances emerged. For example, for a dance performed with more than one piece of music, a single type of music that is claimed to be special to it and belongs to it has begun to be preferred. Ahmet Bey folk dance is just one of these examples. This study is based on the traditional version of the Ahmet Bey dance. Â In this study, it is explained how the changes we mentioned take place, with the example of the Ahmet Bey dances. At the same time, the reasons for the needs that caused the changes in the structure of the dances were also revealed.
