Abstract: This paper aims to examine the progress of leadership studies in the field of management and organization worldwide from 1975 to present. The study investigates how these studies progress using bibliometric analysis method and the results are interpreted. Bibliometric analysis involves information about the country, author(s), the collaboration between authors, citations, resources, institutions and publication year. This study shows how many papers were published in the field of management and organization in Scopus data set during the sample period of 1975-2015 and their classification is established regarding the scope of journal and relevant keywords. Thus, a differentiation may be put forward among subjects that may influence the progress of leadership studies in the field of management and organization. The results reveal an increase on the number of publications after 2005. In addition, regarding the country of publication, the US takes the first place with 430 publications, while the UK and Australia take second and third place with 123 and 59 publication, respectively. However, Turkey takes 23rd place with only seven publications which is the 0.63% of all publications. When a scientific mapping is performed by classifying the publications with respect to different periods, a thematic change is also observed especially within the publication between 1996 and 2015. This thematic change is generally recognized by the prominence and withdrawal of some studies with similar topics.
