EVALUATION OF DIGITAL GAME ADDICTION IN MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS

Abstract: A significant part of adolescents' relationship with computers consists of computer games. Considering the environments that digital games offer to the players, the dream world created and the fact that the world can be changed as desired, the ability to perform some behaviors that cannot be done in the real world in the computer environment and the fact that they have a wide impact area make these games the most preferred entertainment tool. Digital game addiction is a behavioral addiction that causes social or emotional problems in children due to factors such as their inability to stop playing games for a long time, associating the game with their real lives, neglecting their responsibilities due to the game, and preferring the game to other activities. In this respect, it affects young people's daily lives, thoughts and even behaviors. The prevalence of digital game addiction among secondary school students today reminds us of the importance of studies on the subject. On the other hand, researching and examining the positive and negative effects that increase the tendency towards digital game addiction forms the basis for studies on game addiction. For this reason, digital game addiction, emotional-behavioral problems and suggestions are included in this research.
