A Study on Employment Worries of Philosophy Teacher Candidates at Gazi University

Abstract:
The aim of this study is to investigate the future employment worries of the philosophy teaching students at Gazi University. Descriptive Survey Model is employed in order to examine the correlation between the worry of employment levels of philosophy students from Faculties of Education and from Science and Literature, and their parent?s education level, their order of choice in YGS (Higher Education Entrance Test), and the way they satisfy their economic needs. Data is collected via the special tool developed in order to scale the teacher candidates? worry levels of their future employment. Data is analysed by SPSS 12.0 package programme by employing Kruskal-Wallis and Stepwise Linear Regression models. The results showed that there is a liminal significance correlation between the mother?s education level and student?s worry levels. Additionally, it is observed that the worry levels of the philosophy students from Faculty of Science and Letters are higher than the worry levels of other students.
