Abstract:
The Eminönü Rüstem Paşa Mosque, built by Sinan the Architect is a unique sample among both the Turkish art and buildings of Sinan the Architect not only because of this usage of the Iznik tiles, but also the vast use of them in the mosque, the various types of motifs and compositions. During its construction it is noted that the kilns at Iznik were not able to meet the demand for the tiles of this mosque, thus kilns were built in Kütahya just fot this purpose. However this claim have never been supported with neither historical data nor archival documents. This article will deal with the complications of this situation and will try to present primary explanatory proposals for the future researches to note this.
