THE SOCIAL MEDIA USAGE HABITS AND AIMS OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

Abstract:
Emerging communication technologies and communication tools have brought many innovations and convenience to our lives. Communication technologies have developed rapidly in the century we have been in and they have facilitated people's lives and brought new innovations that touch human life. One of these innovations is that social media and what the social media has brought for individuals. Social media makes it possible for us to approach, to interact, to express our feelings and thoughts with the individuals who are far away from us, and helps us meet new people. This survey was used to determine how the students of Istanbul Esenyurt University used social media by puttin forward the participants' social media usage habits, the frequency of social media usage, the social media tool and social media usage that participants used the most. A field study was conducted in the descriptive study and survey technique was used in the case of obtaining the data. In the study Istanbul Esenyurt University Health Services Vocational School students formed the universe and 2016-2017 academic year with the departments of Operating Room Services, Anesthesia, Child Development, Primary and Emergency Assistance, Social Services, Medical Documentation and Secretariat, Medical Imaging Techniques, Medical Laboratory Techniques Students selected by random method from Medical Promotion and Marketing programs as sample. Our survey was conducted between November 14th and 25th, 2016 with 420 randomly selected students from nine programs in Istanbul University Esenyurt University Health Services Vocational School.Â
