MUSIC TEACHER CANDIDATES' ATTITUDES FOR PIANO TEACHING (CASE OF TRABZON UNIVERSITY)

Abstract: In this study, it was aimed to examine the thoughts of music teacher candidates about piano teaching according to various variables. The study was carried out with 126 music teacher candidates who were studying in the Department of Music Teaching at Trabzon University Fatih Faculty of Fine Arts Education in the spring term of 2018-2019 academic year. As a data collection tool, tutum piano teaching attitude scale geliştiril developed by Yazıcı (2016) was used to measure the attitudes of piano educators towards piano teaching. The scale consists of 19 expressions covering the endowed importance given to piano teaching †, love of piano teaching†and professional approach to piano teaching†. According to the results of the research, it is concluded that female students give more importance to piano than male students and their professional approach towards piano is higher. However, there was nodifference in the love of piano teaching between female and male students. It was found that the participants who had piano at home had a higher level of piano teaching love than the participants who did not have a piano at home, they gave more importance to piano teaching and their Professional approach towards piano was also higher. In addition, it was found that there was no difference between the classes in terms of importance given to piano teaching, love of piano teaching and professional approach to piano teaching
