Abstract: Economically based globalization affects all societies in terms of politics, administration and social life. Many radical transformations experienced in the globalization affects all countries in the world. While globalization trivializes the physical and economic boundaries between countries, cities have become the basic units of the global system. In the spatial dimension, the primary areas of this transformation have been cities. Cities, which are accepted as the cradle of civilization and pioneers of development, are changing today with the effect of globalization. The most important effect of globalization is experienced in the cities and the importance of the cities increases day by day due to the changes experienced. The main assumption of the study is that the real impact of the globalization process is seen on cities and changes them in an unprecedented way. The spatial changes in cities during the globalization process and the processes through which this change occurred are analyzed conceptually. The negative effects of globalization on the cities and the consequences of these effects for the spatial area in Diyarbakır are examined. For this reason, the city of Diyarbakır that has changed spatially with the globalization process, is the main focus of the study. The changing of Diyarbakır city, with the rapid population and globalization process, takes place in a similar way to the other cities of the world and looks like other cities of the world day by day with similar exterior designs and structures.
