Abstract:
The study consists of three phases. In the first phase we have mentioned the education activities of the rooted madrasa’s in Bayburt in the historical process and the position of this madrasa’s in the socio-cultural life in the last Ottoman period. The issues we have discussed in the second phase are the Bayburt libraries which were active from beginning the nineteenth century until the second period of the 20.th. century although largely been lost today traces and which also lad the milestones to today’s Provincial Public Library. In the final phase, in the 19th and 20th centuries Bayburt’s famous mudarris (i.e. professor) and the education system are discussed. Furthermore we noted the opening of European educational institutions also in Bayburt in line with the changes in education in the Ottoman Empire during the Tanzimat period in order to express terms of this dual structure, and the modern school curriculum.
