Abstract:
Green conservatism is an important ideological movement that combines conservative philosophy and environmental concerns in environmental issues. While traditional conservatism focuses on preserving social order, cultural heritage, and economic stability, green conservatism also emphasizes the importance of protecting environmental values. It highlights the need to preserve nature and leave a healthy world for future generations. It adopts an evolutionary perspective for the sustainability of natural and social heritage and argues that environmental protection is vital for a society's future. Green conservatism emphasizes the harmonious coexistence of humans and nature. Respect for social values, traditions, and local identity is at the core of environmental protection. It believes that the natural world plays a vital role in human well-being and encourages living in harmony with nature. It underscores that environmental protection is a way to safeguard human health and well-being. Green conservatism aims to strike a balance between the economy and environmental policies. Unlike traditional economic approaches, green conservatives believe that unlimited economic growth has negative impacts on the environment. They highlight the role of the government in guiding environmental policies. They argue that government intervention is necessary for environmental protection. Green conservatism is a significant ideology that combines conservative philosophy and environmental concerns in environmental protection. As environmental issues become more pressing in the future, the role of green conservatism will become increasingly important. This ideology will contribute significantly by promoting sustainable use of natural resources and balancing economic development with environmental protection. In this article, the connection between green conservatism and environmental policies is examined, illustrating how environmentalism is closer to conservative understanding. At the end of the article, a cognitive affective map of green conservatism is provided to facilitate a better understanding of green conservatism.
