MULTICULTURALISM AND LIBERALISM: (ARE THEY) FISHES OF THE SAME SEA?

Abstract: Extensive and long-lasting debates continue on the content of some notions regarding political theory. Notions such as liberty, identity, rights, equality, culture and peace which are related to social, political or socio-political roots seem predominant ones when today’s social progress is considered. Culture, as being the core issue of our study, lays as one of the main constructive stones of the societies. Eacf society has its own peculiar culture. Culture is the main referance item of the societies or the groups for acquisation of the identity. In line with the increase of the cultures, the states evoluated into multiculturalist situations. This brings forward both multiculturalism and multiidentity of the societies. Multiculturalism is not a liking for majority groups or cultures in the states since it necesisates the requirement for giving rights to the minority groups. In this respect, the main goal of this study is analyze and clarify by paving the way by the fact that societies are multiculturalists and all the minority groups in the society are single and the subjects of multiculturalism that how their multicultural rights could be protected and via which political perspective and understanding could determine this more conveniently, rationally and easily.
