Abstract:
The development of psychological ownership has advanced slowly in the literature because psychological ownership is usually confused with organizational commitment. Besides, the relationships between psychological ownership and different variables have examined in past studies, but the studies on individual differences such as gender has been rather limited in the national and international literature. Therefore, studies related to psychological ownership is expected to contribute to the literature. In this respect, the main research question of this study is ?does the psychological ownership level of employees differ from their gender?? In this study, the relationship between psychological ownership, which is a positive attitude, and gender has been explained in light of the Social Role Theory. The findings show that the level of psychological ownership of men is statistically higher than the women participants. Managerial and practical implications are provided.
