Spatial spillovers in tourism performance

Abstract: •We evaluate the efficiency spillovers of Chinese national scenic and cultural areas.•We estimate a series of spatial stochastic frontier models.•Results indicate significant spatial spillovers in the (in)efficiency term.•Non-spatial stochastic frontier model underestimates this efficiency.
