Abstract:
•This research note explores ontological implications of host and guest by inspired the French philosopher Gilles Deleuze.•Binaries are not entirely transcended but scholars must shift focus to other lesser-known binaries.•Assemblages operate in connection with other assemblages but do not transcend binaries.•While having the similar names, scholars should not confuse the different interpretations of assemblages.
