Abstract:
•We study the determinants for museums to organise events except exhibitions.•We run logistic regressions using a dataset of 3659 Italian museums.•Ownership model, factors endowment, full operation, connectedness are influential.•Tourism vocation of the area and local potential audience are not significant.•In highly populated areas, museums would organise events if they budget increased.
