Abstract:
•The COVID-19 global pandemic has offered a transformational moment when a local turn in tourism is evident.•The local here is broadly inclusive of the local community, local ecology and all generations.•This articulation opens up potential for enlivening forms of tourism.•This local turn should become a concern of critical scholars who can flesh out its possibilities and limitations.
