Abstract:
The aim of this study was to examine the effect of media multitasking on adolescents' sleep quality and determine the roles of emotional-behavioral problems as a mediator and psychological suzhi as a moderator. Survey data from a sample of 928 Chinese adolescents were analyzed using path analysis. The results indicated media multitasking was significantly negatively associated with adolescents' sleep quality, and this association was mediated by emotional-behavioral problems. In addition, adolescents' psychological suzhi significantly moderated the path from media multitasking to emotional-behavioral problems. These results highlight the importance of identifying the underlying key mechanisms that moderate the mediated paths between media multitasking and adolescents' sleep quality.
