Childhood adversity classes of incarcerated men and their association with prison-based psychological distress and substance use

Abstract: •Incarcerated men have unique classes of childhood adversity.•Four classes of childhood adversity were found using latent class analysis.•Classes varied by depression, anxiety, and stress scores, and prison-based abuse and drug use.•The association between class and psychological distress was sensitive to the inclusion of prison-based abuse.
