Children and Youth Services Review, 2025, vol. 177, issue C

Abstract: Fathers represent a significant proportion of substance use treatment service users. Many of these fathers have a history of involvement in care proceedings (Family Court). We investigated free-text notes from health records of fathers attending treatment for substance use who were involved in care proceedings. We aimed (1) to identify the childcare responsibility of the fathers after involvement in care proceedings and (2) to determine factors that may impact care proceeding outcomes.
