Abstract:
In 2005, the Children's Bureau (CB) published a funding opportunity announcement (FOA) titled Training of Child Welfare Agency Supervisors in the Effective Delivery and Management of Federal Independent Living Services for Youth in Foster Care. This FOA built on the work of 12 projects funded by the CB in 2000 that focused on the development of training curricula for child welfare practitioners. A key finding from these earlier projects was that in order for supervisors to support the casework efforts of their staff, they need training on youth development to better understand the unique developmental and service needs of youth in out-of-home care.
