A predictive model of adolescent persistence in counseling

Jessica M. Holm and Casey A. Barrio Minton

Children and Youth Services Review, 2016, vol. 67, issue C, 161-167

Abstract: This archival study examined personal and environmental characteristics associated with premature termination from, or persistence in, counseling among a sample of adolescents (n=74) who presented for services at a community counseling clinic. The predictive discriminant analysis yielded a model with a 74.6% hit rate for counseling outcome. Internalizing behaviors and time spent on the wait list accounted for the most variance in counseling persistence.
