A scoping literature review of service-level barriers for access and engagement with mental health services for children and young people

Abstract: •This review identified prominent research gaps, mainly regarding methodology of conducted studies.•Most studies examining barriers for access include small, convenience samples, affecting generalisability of findings.•Studies evaluating the effectiveness of intervention to improve access do not examine long-term effects.•Major service-level barriers for access include complicated pathways to care and long waiting times.
