Ping Li, Ying Zhou and Sijie Huang

Economic Analysis and Policy, 2023, vol. 78, issue C, 307-318

Abstract: The travel industry is a financial, social, and societal anomaly formed by individuals who travel to foreign nations or regions for personal or business reasons. Tourism and technological advance have been tightly interwoven for over 25 years. Internet and information technologies are crucial on all operational, structural, marketing, and strategic levels to facilitate global communication between suppliers, consumers, and intermediaries. E-tourism establishes commercial links via the Internet to supply tourism-related items/products, such as flights, hotel reservations, and vehicle rentals. This allows businesses to increase their overall efficiency and effectiveness. This article explored the primary elements of information technology that have impacted and continue to impact tourist industry activities. Two issues were chosen for the travel industry examination, including innovation progression and its impact on the traveller market. In addition, this research addresses future e-travel technologies that will impact the traveller’s business strategy.
