Abstract:
Using data from A-share manufacturing listed firms from 2013 to 2023, we analyze the impact of industrial robots application on corporate competitiveness. Finding that the application of industrial robots can significantly enhance corporate competitiveness, which remains valid after a series of robustness checks. This positive effect is more pronounced in firms with technical executives, those in high-tech industries, and those with lower levels of digital infrastructure construction. Mechanism tests show that the application of industrial robots promotes corporate competitiveness by improving human capital, production efficiency, and governance efficiency. The economic consequence analysis indicates that the enhanced corporate competitiveness attributable to industrial robots can expand firms' market power.
