Scale economies and intra-industry trade

Abstract:
This investigation of the relationship between intra-industry trade and scale economies shows industries with low scale economies more frequently have high, rather than low, intra-industry trade shares. Theoretical studies should focus on causes of intra-industry trade other than scale economies.
