The effect of the production tax credit on wind energy production in deregulated electricity markets

Travis Roach

Economics Letters, 2015, vol. 127, issue C, 86-88

Abstract: This letter estimates the asymmetric influence of the production tax credit on wind energy production. I find that states with deregulated electricity markets were more responsive to the tax incentive than their regulated counterparts. Excluding any external benefits from wind production, this dissimilarity amounts to a monthly difference of up to $464,450 in federal benefits.
