Abstract:
Rooftop solar energy is a key piece of infrastructure in lowering carbon emissions. In this paper, we use survival analysis to study the effects of a feed-in tariff (FIT) policy on installation rates. We show that the option to resell domestic solar energy to the grid dramatically increases the total amount of home solar uptake and exponentially speeds up the adoption rate.
