The Nash bargaining solution and utilitarian–egalitarian social welfare functions

Abstract:
The 2-person Nash bargaining solution is the only scale covariant one that maximizes, on every problem, some mixture of the utilitarian and egalitarian social welfare functions. With three or more players, no solution satisfies these two axioms.
