Abstract:
•We present a participatory approach to support a local planning process.•Cultural ecosystem service valuation was combined with cost-benefit analysis.•The approach successfully engaged the key stakeholder groups of the research area.•The results enabled deliberations across monetary and social value dimensions.•Stakeholders appreciated the approach’s ability to support planning processes.
